Frequently Asked Questions
What is Microsoft Azure?
Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform that lets businesses run their servers, storage, applications and infrastructure over the internet instead of on physical hardware in the office. You use – and pay for – only what you need, scaling up or down as your business changes. It’s Microsoft’s equivalent to AWS and Google Cloud, and it integrates tightly with tools you may already use, like Microsoft 365.
What can my business use Azure for?
Plenty – hosting servers and applications, storing and backing up data, running virtual desktops, disaster recovery and adding security tools like Microsoft Sentinel. For most small and medium businesses, it’s a way to access enterprise-grade infrastructure without buying and maintaining your own. We help you work out which parts are actually useful for your business.
What's the difference between Azure, AWS and Google Cloud - and which is cheaper?
All three are major cloud platforms that do broadly similar things. Azure tends to be the natural fit for businesses already invested in Microsoft (Windows Server, Microsoft 365), because everything works together. “Cheapest” depends entirely on what you’re running and how it’s set up – pricing is usage-based across all three. We can assess your needs and tell you whether Azure is the right, cost-effective choice for you.
How much does Azure cost?
Azure is pay-as-you-go: you’re billed for the resources you actually use – compute, storage, networking and so on – rather than a big upfront investment in hardware. That makes it cost-effective and scalable, but it also means costs can creep if it isn’t set up and managed well. We help you right-size your environment so you’re not paying for capacity you don’t need.
Why would my business move to Azure?
The main draws are flexibility and cost: enterprise-level capability without the large upfront spend on servers, plus the ability to scale as you grow and access your systems from anywhere. It also removes the burden of maintaining ageing on-site hardware. Whether it’s the right move depends on your setup, which is why we start with a cloud readiness assessment.
Can you migrate us to Azure without downtime?
Yes. We’re complex migration specialists, and we plan migrations to keep your business running throughout. We start with a Microsoft Azure Cloud Assessment to check you’re cloud ready, build a strategy that suits you, and carry out a downtime-free migration so there’s no disruption to your team.
Is Azure secure?
Azure s built on Microsoft’s enterprise-grade security, and we go further by deploying tools like Microsoft Sentinel for threat visibility, attack detection and proactive response. As with any cloud platform, security depends heavily on how it’s configured – which is where working with a specialist matters. We make sure your environment is set up and monitored properly.
How do we get started with Azure?
It starts with a conversation about your goals. We then run a cloud readiness assessment, plan a strategy that works for your business, and handle the migration with zero downtime. From there, we provide ongoing support and management, so your Azure environment keeps running at its best.
